Cathy also played the clarinet, bass clarinet, recorders and whistles in local folk bands Malthouse Passage and Gordon the Hedgehog. She was often to be seen at local music sessions, notably the Thursday night session at The Plough in Prestbury. She was a keen ceilidh dancer and could often be found at the regular ceilidhs in Stroud and Bath.
Musically she had a rare talent for remembering tunes. She could hear a tune once and immediately be able to play it from memory. Her accompanymente had a distinctive and sometimes somewhat "wacky" (her own description) style. She composed tunes several of which became popular locally.
